In a small town called Moorina is the Weld River, which is renowned for its Sapphires, Party Sapphire’s and Topaz’s.
There is a Public Fossicking area where no license is required but if wishing to fossick outside this area you will need to go to the MRT site and buy a license.

Camping both nights at the Frome Road camping spot, 50m on right after the bridge crossing. Bush camping at its finest so come prepared. Limited phone service..The track to camp is suited to camper trailers, small caravans but the area can get busy so negotiating to your spot might be a tight squeeze.
Being a long weekend if anyone wants to take a break from gemming and wants to go 4wding, the start of Emu Road Track is just up the road..Recovery gear should be carried and the 4wd to have Front and Rear recovery points.
No dogs. Parents will need to keep an eye on their children for obvious reasons, working in a river..BYO food and drinks. Bag or two of firewood if wanting a camp fire.
